Laura Arledge

DESIGNER + FOUNDER

State is led by Laura Arledge, an award-winning, licensed interior designer (NCIDQ). Following her studies in interior design and the fine arts at Colorado State University and Florence University of the Arts (Italy), she served with notable firms for 10 years, working on commercial, boutique hospitality, and residential projects worldwide. During this time, she led interior design + identity development for numerous new brands and re-brands, earning accolades from IIDA (International Interior Design Association) and ASID (American Society of Interior Designers). Articles on her work have been published in Architectural Digest, USA Today, Luxe, Modern in Denver, Colorado Homes & Lifestyles, and brochures and websites for national furniture manufacturers.

Meredith Larson

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

With a degree in Architecture from Mississippi State University, Meredith practiced at a local architecture firm before moving to Colorado. For the next 13 years, Meredith led a department of 350+ employees and achieved business growth at a Fortune 500 company. Laura worked for the same parent company leading their interiors and while there, she and Laura met riding the elevator (let's just say that elevator was slow!). During their elevator rides, there was time to catch up and commune over their shared passion for design. Meredith went on to be a 2x client of State's, prior to joining State in 2023 to run the operations side of the business. Since joining State, she has assisted in maturing our internal operating models to ensure we are delivering our best work, on time and on budget.

We approach design by first asking questions that help us understand both functional and emotional needs. From there, we develop a personal/public brand narrative that reinforces and guides every decision we make.
